Hammertown Wetlands Restoration & Community Education Project
Ohio Valley Conservation Coalition is attempting to coordinate a joint project between several entities for an approximate 20-40 acre wetland / habitat restoration and education area in Jackson Co Ohio. This area lies within what is believed to be the pre-historic Teays River Area bottomlands. We have been granted funds from Ohio Public Works Clean Ohio to purchase the property that is currently an agricultural field with Buckeye Creek running along nearly 1/2 of the property boundary. We want to restore the area into a wetland, with a walking path, and educational kiosks as to the importance of wetlands both as habitat and water quality.
